To achieve sustainable development as foreseen in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the scarce financial resources available in Malawi need to be used properly, hence the need for public financial management. The chief public actors involved in Public Finance Management at the central government level are the Ministry of Finance and Economic Affairs, respective line ministries, the National Parliament, and the National Audit Office (NAO).
